This month, L&Q has donated a collection of show home furniture to local charity, The Spitalfields Crypt Trust.

Based in St Leonard‘s Church Gardens, the east London charity provides a range of services for people suffering alcohol and drug addiction. Celebrating 50 years in 2015, The Spitalfields Crypt Trust now provides a variety of services for over 150 recovering and current addicts every week.

At L&Q we are committed to shaping healthier, happier neighbourhoods across the capital and we are delighted to support this great charity and provide a range of sofas, kitchen tables and chairs for use across the trust’s properties in Harrow, Enfield, Tower Hamlets and Lewisham.

Graham Marshall, CEO of The Spitalfields Crypt Trust commented “One of our supported houses in East London where people in recovery from addictions start building a more independent life, was long overdue a makeover. L&Q very kindly donated some virtually new, high quality furniture including sofas, armchairs, tables and chairs. They also sent us some lovely artwork and soft furnishings which have really cheered up the houses. The donation was so large that we have been able to place items in all 4 of our supported houses right across London, and give some to a long term resident just rehoused into an L&Q flat.  Fantastic! Thank you so much L&Q for your longstanding and hugely generous support.”

At L&Q we aim to provide high quality, affordable homes across London and the South East and are responsible for delivering a significant share of the capital’s Shared Ownership properties. We recently announced plans to increase our output of homes to 5,000 a year over the next 10 years, securing our place as one of the largest housing associations of its kind.

Playing an important part in delivering these new homes is large scale regeneration project, The City Mills in Haggerston. Currently selling a collection of two bedroom apartments from just £182,000 for a 35% share, the development offers local renters a chance to step onto the property ladder in a highly desirable location.

Cathy Lloyd, Sales Director at L&Q comments; “We’re incredibly excited about The City Mills development. The first phase was extremely successful and signalled the need for more housing in the Haggerston area. We look forward to providing the local community with this range of affordable and contemporary properties throughout 2015 and 2016”.

Ideal for first time buyers, families and young professionals, future residents will benefit from excellent nearby transport links which include Hoxton and Haggerston station as well as surrounding popular hotspots such as Dalston, Shoreditch and Hackney. Haggerston itself is now firmly placed within this ‘Hipster Triangle’ and has upheld many of its London village qualities. Lifestyle pursuits include the much visited City Farm, nearby Columbia Flower Market and the Regent’s Canal, aligned with popular bars and restaurants.
