L&Q Win ‘Best Regeneration Project’ at the Acclaimed National Housing Awards 2014
We are delighted to announce that L&Q have won the highly regarded Best Regeneration Project award for The City Mills development in Haggerston.
The award celebrates the innovation in design, quality and delivery of neighbourhood regeneration, providing opportunity for community development.
The City Mills development is the leading project for the regeneration of Haggerston, Hackney, replacing two neglected estates and providing 170 Shared Ownership, 248 social rent and 343 private sale homes to create a sustainable community. The project has also upgraded the community centre, offering a community hall, nursery and offices.
The award recognises the creation of mixed communities, delivering a range of tenures and affordability options. Most importantly, at the heart of the regeneration project rests the resident led approach.
Judges of the Awards cited that “The City Mills has successfully provided evidence of a regeneration project that has transformed and positively influenced the local community. An area that was once presented the highest crime levels in the borough, can now proudly say that the crime rates have fallen and long term opportunities exist for training and community cohesion following the regeneration.”
Phase 2 at The City Mills will be coming to market in 2015 so keep an eye out for more information at www.thecitymills.com
