We have won ‘Housing Association of the Year’ at the What House Awards 2015.

Judges gave us the gold award for the scale of our impact and our continued innovation. Their report states: “L&Q is becoming a genuine competitor to the big housebuilders in London and the south-east. It is now involved in 20% of London’s housing development output.”

They were impressed by the ‘multi-generation houses’ we are building at our Chobham Manor development in the Olympic Park. These family homes will each include a separate annexe, offering independent living to grandparents no longer able to manage alone or adult children unable to afford a place of their own. Judges described this as “designing in solutions to two of the big housing problems people now face in London”.

The judges – property experts, including architects, surveyors, property writers and industry specialists – noted our investment in supporting our local communities through the L&Q Foundation.
They highlighted how we use our profits to support our social purpose by building more affordable homes.

The What House? awards have been recognising excellence in the housebuilding industry for 34 years. We finished ahead of A2Dominion and North Wales Housing, who each got the silver award, and Network Housing Group, who got bronze. Last year we were one of the joint winners of the bronze award in this category.

Actor, author and comedian David Walliams presented the awards at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel last Friday (20 November).

The Marketing team coordinated our award entry and Olivia Scrimshaw (Marketing Director) and Lucy Chitty (Regional Sales Director) collected the award on behalf of L&Q.
